BIOGRAPHY

Heike Schuch was born in Neuss in 1989 to parents who were ethnic Germans from Romania. She began her musical career at the age of seven at the music school in her hometown. Early success in competitions soon followed, drawing attention to her exceptional talent. At just sixteen, she was accepted as a pre-college student at the Cologne University of Music and the Maastricht Conservatory. Her education, which she completed with a Master of Arts (with honors), eventually led her to the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, where she studied under Prof. Enrico Bronzi and Prof. Clemens Hagen. She gained further important insights through her work with renowned figures such as Heinrich Schiff, Natalia Gutmann, David Geringas, Janos Starker, and Arto Noras.
Her early accolades include numerous first prizes at the “Jugend musiziert” competition. She subsequently qualified to participate in some of the most prestigious music competitions (e.g., the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow) and won, among other awards, second prize and the Special Prize of the Brahms Society of Hamburg at the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Gdańsk. She has been awarded the City of Neuss Art Promotion Prize, the European Promotion Prize from the “ProEuropa” Cultural Foundation, and—as part of the Salzburg Festival—the Promotion Prize from the Summer Academy and the City of Salzburg. In addition, she has received grants from the Art and Culture Foundation of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Lions Club, the Dr. Jost-Henkel Foundation, and the German Chamber Academy in Neuss.

As a soloist and chamber musician, she regularly performs at festivals both in Finland and abroad. Her active collaboration with internationally renowned chamber, symphony, and opera orchestras, her teaching at masterclasses and as a substitute for Martti Rousi at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, as well as regular forays into other musical genres (primarily “new” music, but also ambitious crossover and popular music projects) round out the picture of the “all-around artist.” She has shared the stage with greats ranging from Roland Kaiser to Kanye West and, until the end of 2023, toured the world as a cellist and singer with the renowned quartet “Salut Salon” in their stage production “Träume.”

She is currently working on her new solo project “Charlie Cello,” in which she performs not only as a cellist but also as a singer and multi-instrumentalist (including piano, guitar, bass, and drums).

As a versatile artist, Heike Schuch has also been appearing regularly on camera in film and television projects since 2018. She received her acting training at the Hamburg School of Acting and through numerous workshops.

In addition, she is working  in the field of voice acting since completing her professional training at YellowDubmarine Berlin.
